Ranthambore National Park is located about 13.5 kms from the city of Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan. Located at the junction of the Aravali and Vindhya hill ranges. The park covers an area of approximately 400 sq km, and if combined with the area of Sawai Man Singh Sanctuary area, is around 500 sq km.
Ranthambore National Park hosts deciduous forests and wildlife such as Bengal tiger, Indian leopard, Indian elephant, Wild water buffalo, Gaur, nilgai, Barasingha, Black buck, Chinkara, Chousingha, wild boar, sambar, Indian muntjac, Indian hog deer, Spotted deer, striped hyena, Dhole, Indian wolf, Bengal fox, Desert fox, Golden Jackal, Caracal, Jungle cat, Rusty spotted cat, Leopard cat, Asian palm civet, Indian grey mongoose, Ruddy Mongoose, Long-eared hedgehog, Northern palm squirrel, Indian Porcupine, Indian Hare, Lesser bandicoot rat, Honey badger, Indian Flying Fox, Greater false vampire bat, Indian gerbil, Indian pangolin, sloth bear, southern plains gray langur, rhesus macaque, mugger crocodile. The park is a home to a wide variety of trees, plants, birds and reptiles, as well as one of the largest banyan trees in India.

Best time to Visit – October – June
October – March – During Winters animals can be easily spotted while sunbathing.
April – June – These are the hottest months, however, spotting tigers and other animals are quite easy as they found near waterholes in the park.
July – September – As core zones 1 – 5 gets closed due to monsoons and 6 – 10 buffer zones are open for visitors.
Safaris
Four wheeler open gypsy takes you to the core and buffer tourism zone of the park for Safaris.
Regular Safari – Two Safaris in a day, Morning (Approx. 5 Hrs) and Afternoon (Approx. 3 Hrs)
Full Day Safari – It lasts from morning till evening from 6.00 Am to 6.00 Pm.
Timing varies as per forest guidelines and as per summers and winters.
*Note – Park is open for tourists from 1st October – 30th June. Entry for park round is in the morning and in the evening Park remains closed for tourists in the afternoon of Wednesday.
