Nestled in Central India, Panna National Park lies in the districts of Panna and Chhatarpur of Madhya Pradesh. The Reserve is situated in the Vindhyan Ranges. The Ken river which flows through the Reserve from south to north is one of the least polluted rivers and a tributary of Yamuna. 

Forests of Panna National Park along with Ken Gharial Sanctuary and adjoining territorial divisions form a significant part of the catchment area of the river Ken with a total length of 406 km runs for about 72 kms through this catchment.

Managed and best maintained by the Ministry of Tourism of India, the popular Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh won the Award of Excellence in the year 2007.

The wildlife here is diverse and includes deer species like Sambars (which are listed in the ‘Vulnerable’ category of the IUCN red data list), wild dogs (Dholes), jackals, Indian Gaurs and Nilgai (the largest antelopes in India), and of course big wild cats like leopards and tigers.

Best Time To Visit – October – June

October – March – The Park is ideal for a wildlife tour with maximum of the animals soaking the sun on cold days. The temperature ranges from 10 to 25 making it quite comfortable for the wildlife enthusiasts to enjoy their safaris.

March – June – With the onset of March, the summer season in Panna National Park marks its beginning. During the whole season, the weather of the region remains hot and humid which is ideal for spotting animals around water bodies. 

Safaris

Four wheeler open gypsy takes you to the core and buffer tourism zone of the park for Safaris.

Regular Safari – Two Safaris in a day, Morning (5 Hrs) and Afternoon (3 Hrs)

Full Day Safari – It lasts from morning till evening from 6.00 Am to 6.00 Pm.

Timing varies as per forest guidelines and as per summers and winters.                                                     

*Note – Park is open for tourists from 1st October – 30th June. Entry for park round is in the morning and in the evening Park remains closed for tourists in the afternoon of Wednesday.
